Restart windows Explorer

If you are facing issue with taskbar then you need to restart the windows explorer. From the explorer, you have to restart windows explorer. Below are the steps to restart windows explorer.

  • First of all, go to Windows task manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  • Windows taskbar window will open where you will get different option-Application, Processes, Services, performance, networking, and users.
  • Taskbar by default open the application. If application tab is open, click to processes tab to open ongoing system processes.
  • Now you have to search Windows explorer. Press W, it will get you to windows Explorer. Right click on it and click to restart.

Update your system drivers

Your system hardware and software runs through drivers. From graphics to network, the performance of all depends on drivers. You have to install all drivers to keep your system to work smoothly. If any drive fails then computer system associated with this driver will show the problem. It needs to keep all drivers updated and also you need to figure out among all drivers which are outdated. There are some softwares which can do this task for you. Softwares like Driver talent and Driver easy will identify any faulty and outdated driver in your system. Uninstall those drivers and install a fresh updated one.

This is another way to solve taskbar issue in windows. Here in this step, I am going to show how command prompt can get you out from this annoying issue. Check below.

  • Open a command prompt by right click on the start menu. Your role in this system needs to be an admin.
  • To open Windows commands prompt type Powershell and hit the Enter key.
  • Now copy and paste the below code exactly.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  • Finally, close the windows Powershell.
  • Now navigate to the location C:/Users/name/AppData/Local/ in the windows explorer.
  • Properly navigating to the above location you will get a folder named TileDataLayer.
  • You have to delete this folder. Sometimes windows can block you to delete this folder. If it happens with you, go to the Run command box from your start menu.
  • In the Run command box type services.msc.
  • A service manager will open in the window. Here again, you have to search from TileDataLayer.
  • Now you have to stop the ongoing process of TileDataLayer.
  • As from command prompt, you are not able to delete this folder, so try now to delete it.
  • Finally, restart your system.
  • After restart, you will not face Taskbar not working issue anymore. Problem fixed.

PowerShell to remove package

Some apps in the taskbar or even on the store may lead to this taskbar not working problem. So if it is for any apps then you can solve it by performing some steps on Windows command Prompt. Till end of the steps it will erase all apps from your taskbar. Check below the steps.

  • Go to the start menu and open Command Prompt as Admin.
  • Once it open, type Powershell and then press Enter.
  • Now you have to write a cmd code which I am sharing below. Copy the entire codes and paste it on the cmd screen.

Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage –online

  • Press enter and restart the system. Surely it will get you out from taskbar not working on windows problem.

Sometimes auto hide functionality of windows taskbar may lead to this error. If you have enabled auto hide property of your taskbar then disable it. If it is due to auto hide functionality than by disabling it you can get rid of this error.

Sometimes due to some alters in system files of windows, the system might not work smoothly. At that time you need to update your windows operating system or repair it. You can even restore the windows operating system and bring back to work. Systems automatically keep a restore point. So identify the date and time when your system worked fine and then restore it now to that restore point.
